The Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (NRMP) developed for the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area (MPEA) serves many functions. For example, the plan:
- describes and inventories existing natural resource features on the landscape utilizing detailed field assessment techniques and in-house GIS mapping capabilities;
- provides guidance for Zone, Park, and Natural Resource managers to make informed decisions on the lands in the MPEA;
- recommends best
management practices, habitat enhancements, and resource management
options to be carried out in the MPEA; and
- provides a framework to implement and monitor activities to ensure goals are achieved over the long-term management of the MPEA.
Goals specific to natural resource management, education and research, and recreation are included in the management plan.
The NRMP is a constantly evolving document, changing as goals are met, revised, removed and added.
