The Howard Research and Development Corporation established and endowed the Middle Patuxent Environmental Foundation in 1996. The foundation’s mission is to preserve, protect, and maintain the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area.  The MPEF does this primarily by providing financial and program support to Howard County’s Department of Recreation and Parks.

Each year the MPEF donates money to a dedicated revenue account maintained by Howard County.  The county uses those funds in its stewardship of the MPEA through programs of natural resource conservation, environmental education, research, and passive recreation.

The MPEF is a tax-exempt foundation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code.  Donations to the MPEF are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Click the link to download and print a Donation Form to mail with your check.

Several volunteer activities are available for those who wish to support the MPEA in that way.  Click on the “Volunteer” tab on this page to learn about volunteer opportunities.

Whatever method you choose -- a financial contribution, volunteer help, or both -- thank you for supporting the MPEF and MPEA.
